Sena 20s EVO intercom: Full review

On paper, the Sena 20s EVO Bluetooth intercom is one of the best intercoms.

Designed specifically for those who enjoy traveling in groups and wish to communicate with fellow travelers.

    Why choose Sena 20s EVO

The Sena 20s EVO intercom, in the long list of devices produced by the American manufacturer, has been surpassed only by the latest Sena 30k, the current top-of-the-line.

Sena 20s EVO is equipped with numerous features and functions, among which you will find:

    • Bluetooth 4.1 technology
    • Audio multitasking (you can hear music while communicating with another user, and simultaneously receive audio messages from your satnav)
    • Universal intercom (compatibility with all Bluetooth communication devices other than Sena)
    • voice commands (with which you can select the many functions of this intercom)
    • and the option to play your favorite playlists, via your smartphone, or any other Mp3 player with Bluetooth technology.

It also features an advanced noise suppression system, built-in radio reception and slots for up to 10 stations, compatibility with the remote control to be placed on the handlebar (sold separately as an accessory), and the ability to communicate with as many as 8 people in intercom and conference mode.

It comes standard with two high-performance, high-fidelity earphones that will let you fully enjoy your favorite music.

Speaking of design, we appreciate the well-thought shapes, which are slightly squarer and more aerodynamic than the usual intercoms.

The only drawback we found in the Sena 20S (i.e., the presence of the very delicate mobile antenna) has been overcome by Sena through the installation of a fixed antenna, which makes the intercom much more elegant and solid.

You can pair your intercom with a new device by simply shaking the Sena 20s EVO to do the pairing.

With the Sena 20s EVO Bluetooth intercom, you won’t need to fear the elements: the 20s EVO has a waterproof shell that will allow you to use it even in the rain.

All features of this high-performance intercom are fully manageable from the handy smartphone app.

What you will find in the box

In the Sena 20s EVO package are included:

    • 1 cigar lighter cable
    • 1 Aux 2.5 to 3.5mm cable

    • 1 microphone stand
    • 1 microphone port cover
    • 1 Allen wrench

    Range of action

We can say that you will be able to distance yourself from your fellow travelers, because the range of the Sena 20s EVO reaches about 2000m.

Of course, this is an ideal value with no obstacles between intercoms and in good weather conditions.

    Audio

The audio quality of the Sena 20s EVO is definitely above average, especially in music playback and incoming and outgoing calls. Intercom communication is also excellent and clear.

Up to about 80 mph (130 km/h), communicative performance remains excellent, but, common on all intercoms, past highway code speeds, you start to suffer a bit with connection and communication cleanliness, especially in intercom mode.

You can improve these already excellent skills by availing yourself of a well-soundproofed helmet and good aerodynamic protection.

    Battery life

The battery of Sena 20s has 13 hours of use and 10 days of standby time. A value that will satisfy most motorcyclists.

    Pros and Cons

    • design
    • 8 users connected
    • multitasking audio

    Cons

    • High price

    To whom it is addressed

This is an excellent device for all those looking for lots of features, lots of performance, and an attractive design. This intercom can meet, more or less, all your needs.

The price of the Sena 20s EVO is not very enticing, but we must say that the bar is very high here, and, like its competitors, quality comes at a high price.

We recommend it, mainly to those who like to travel in company, given the possibility of connecting with 8 users. Also, if you don’t have any of these needs, other excellent intercoms will save you some money, which never hurts.
